You know we love creating easy paint pen tutorials! They are perfect for beginners to follow along with. You could definitely fill these fish in with acrylic paints as well. We wills start with a basic fish doodle breaking apart the body and fins. Then fill it in!

In this tutorial I am using my extra fine tip Posca pens. You can paint them one solid color or with 2 colors blended in the middle like we show in the tutorial. I am working on stones from Etsy. You can shop all the rest of our favorite supples in our Amazon shop!

How to Paint a Fish Step by Step
Below you will find step by step images on how to create this design. There is a full video tutorial after if you are looking for more details or tips!
To paint this fish, start with the body. Create an eye like shape to start. You can exaggerate any of these shapes to change the look of the fish. Next add fins. One on the back, bottom and the tip. If you are working with 2 colors fill in the top and bottom separate first. This doesn’t have to be right along the middle as you can see from our other fish paintings.
With a second layer of each color work with the wet paint in the middle section. Pulling the colors together to give a fun fade. You can do this with the tips of your pens (watch the video below if you need to see it in action). Go along your outline again and add some fin details. For the eye start with a big white dot, next add a smaller black dot, and finally a little white highlight. Make sure you let your paint dry between each layer.
