The holiday season is an excellent time to get cozy and get crafty! In this tutorial I’m sharing 2 different line art Christmas designs. We will create a Christmas tree and a Christmas ornament on stones. Christmas painted rocks are perfect for hiding around town, adding to stockings, or gifting to friends.

You know how much I love my paint pens for creating easy painted rocks. Well we are using all of our Posca PC-1MR Pens for this tutorial. You can also create these designs using an extra fine tip pen and dotting tools to fill the designs.

Line Art Ornament Design Step-by-Step
Below you will find step by step images on how to create this design. There is a full video tutorial after if you are looking for more details or tips!
Start by tracing something circle on your stone. Make sure to leave enough space at the top to add on your hook. Create curved lines across your ornament. If your lines become uneven you can thicken the line to adjust it slightly.
Create designs on each of your lines. You can do so many different things you can see a few ideas above and below on the tree. Then fill in your designs with your desired color. I stuck to a single color for each rock, but you can mix it up if you like!
Line Art Christmas Tree Design Step-by-Step
To create our lined tree design we placed our star down first, then added our bottom, and the sides of the tree. Use a straight edge to assist in the sides of your design. Add arches from one side to the other. You can space these apart as much or as little as you like!
Add on some fun designs and then fill in green! Color the star at the top yellow or gold and you’re done!
