So we have quite a few animal rocks on the site. But, this is not a tiger tutorial. This is simply how to paint tiger stripes.
Supplies for Painting Tiger Stripes with Paint Pens
I am using my 3M (fine tip) Posca paint pens in this tutorial for the base. I created a realistic orange and white base coat. Then I also did a fun funky pink, purple, and blue base. You will also need an 1M (extra fine tip) black for the actual stripes. I am using these fun rectangular rocks you can find in this Etsy shop. How to Paint Tiger Stripes Step-by-Step
Below you will find step by step images on how to create this design. There is a full video tutorial after if you are looking for more details or tips!
Start by placing down a large stripe of orange with white on either side. Using your paint pen start working your white into the orange to blend them together. Make sure to doodle off the tip of your white on a piece of scratch paper to get any left over orange off before heading to the second side. And also when you are finished.
Start placing a few tiger stripes onto your stone. Create bumpy lines coming in from either side, a few in the middle, and some that split into Y shapes. Once your lines are down start making portions of the lines a bit thicker. Try to leave any stripe ends that are not going over the edge of the design as thin as possible. Then go back in and add more stripes where you want them! Remember you can always add more so start with less!
You can also make these stripes on a funky colored backdrop as well! Just have fun with it!
