When I find a fun rock painting idea it’s hard to switch to something else. When I first found this zendangle technique, I was obsessed! Let’s just say my area had a lot of dangle rocks hiding in it. This dangle heart painted rock is a fun way to start the zendangle technique.

Step by step instructions for this Zendangle inspired rock

Start with the outline of a heart. To get a perfect heart, you can trace one using a post-it or a scrap piece of paper. I like the post-it because the sticky helps to keep it from moving around on the rock.

Add your word (if you want a word) and the line that your dangles will hang from. I wrote the word Love, but you can write whatever you want. No two rocks like this will be alike.

Because I wanted to have several placed hearts on this rock, I added them before I started drawing my dangles. Create your dangle lines so that it looks like something heavy is at the bottom. Start filling in the blank spaces with more dangles.

I chose 3 colors for this rock. You can choose as many or as few as you want. I like to start with one color and fill in a few pieces. Then switch to my next color. I also like to fill in the holes in my letters. This is up to you.

101 Tip!: If you have an extra bumpy rock, that makes drawing/painting difficult, focus on making the outside line nice,. you can cover up the interior faults with your colored pens.
