Step by step instructions for this sun painted rock
Making these dangle rocks is easier if you have the right supplies.
I use 1M Posca pens for most of my work. Occasionally I will us a 3M for filling color. To touch up at the end you can use Micron pens to get the tiny details just right. Just make sure to use a light hand with the Micron pens so you don’t wear down the tips.
Start by using your orange and yellow to put a circle in the center of your rock. Then add 4 lines coming from the center creating 90-degree angles.
Then split each of those sections in half to give you 8 rays to work with.
I added a triangle to the tip of each of my rays first to give it a cohesive look. Then I started filling in each line with my designs. Circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles. Anything goes!
101 Tip: The outer edge of your designs is all that matters if you make a mistake in the middle it will be fixed when you add in your color.
Work your way around each ray until you have on all your designs.
Now it’s time to add some color! On this design, I found it easiest to bounce around with one color at a time. This way I spaced them out well. I started off with yellow.
Then added in some oranges. I even had my orange glitter pen to give it some shimmer.
I went back and added all of my colors in circles in the middle. Last, go around with your black pen and touch up any lines and add circles in the center of your sun if you like.
