These rainbow pointillism heart rocks are beautiful and fun to create. They are perfect for people who love the dot painting look but don’t have the steady hand for its perfection.
Rainbow Pointillism Heart Rocks
After making a handful of 2 toned pointillism hearts, I decided I wanted to take it up a notch!
Mixing 2 of my favorite things to put on rocks: rainbows and hearts! This pointillism rainbow is perfect for beginners and looks amazing when it’s finished.

Step by step instructions for this rainbow painted rock
You can grab the Posca pens that I used on this painted rock here.
I started with a VERY lightly drawn heart on my rock. I used a soft lead pencil so that it wouldn’t show through the paint.
Next, start spacing out your colors. Dot a fairly straight line through your heart from top to bottom/side of each color.
Next, start to thicken up each color by lightly dotting all around each line.
Overlapping a few dots into the side colors looks great too!
Keep going back and forth between colors until your heart is full and you like how it looks.
Now to make the heart pop off the rock start adding black dots around the outer edge. Make the dots thicker along the edge of the heart and slowly farther and farther apart as you get to the edges of your rock.
The black really makes the colors stand out! I hope you give this rock a try!
